Caroline had her second visit to Scottish Rite this week!  Nanny, Nana B, Caroline, and I made the road trip  together.  Billy started a new job about a month ago and is supposed to file this week, so he wasn't able to come.  :(  We made it to Waco Thursday night, and then made the rest of the trip on Friday morning to see Dr. J.  He decided to measure C for a new brace while we were there.  It is the style of brace that they put on kids who have SMA.  The tummy portion of the brace is cut out to make breathing and eating easier.  Kids with low muscle tone are typically mouth breathers, and use their tummies to get plenty of oxygen.  The brace we had was constricting her and making both of those very important things hard to do.  The diva picked the zebra pattern, with a little help from mom, so that her back brace will match her AFO's!  Dr. J said that her scoliosis has not progressed too much and he thinks the best thing we can do is to brace her and continue therapy 10 million times a week!  HA!  He told me that surgery is not something he is considering for Caroline at this time.  In his words, "We will cross that bridge when we get there."  We left Dallas and made a stop in Waco at the I'm Yours warehouse to boost our holiday wardrobe.  They even had a $5 room!  Caroline might or might not have gotten over 10 shirts... YIKES!  I think we have a shopping problem!  :)  We got to stop at our friends Josh and Libby's house to stretch our legs in Caldwell, and finally made it home around 10:00.  C and I can't thank the Nannies enough for accompanying us and helping along the way.  Caroline was so worn out when we got home that she slept until 10 o'clock!!!  WOW!  When she woke up, she decided she needed to give me a little drama, and broke her sassy button. The tip that keeps it closed broke off and I was unable to feed her.  We made a quick trip to the ER and they removed the old button and popped a new one in and we were good to go!  TCH West Campus ER had us in and out in under 30 minutes... I was highly impressed!  After her wild morning, we loaded up in the car again and got to celebrate Paige's first birthday!  We are so blessed to have that sweet little Pita in our lives and were so excited to dress up for her big party.  Caroline got to wear her piggie costume and see lots of her friends!  After such a WILD weekend we are all ready to go to bed!  Caroline's new C-pap machine has us all getting much better rest!  We have our next trip to Scottish Rite scheduled for the week of Thanksgiving to pick up C's fancy new brace.
