We took little Miss Caroline to see her surgeon at Texas Children's today. She has suffered from reflux since she was born, and it isn't getting any better. Her recent bout with pneumonia was caused from her aspirating on spit-up due to reflux (atleast that is what we think). We decided today to go forward with a fundo. They will wrap part of her stomach around the base of her esophagus and that will prevent her from throwing up! We will do the surgery on Tuesday at Texas Children's in the Medical Center. She will be in the PCU for one night and then moved to a room for 3-5 days before we are released to come home. We have a new nurse named Melissa who we absolutely adore! She has been with us for a couple of weeks now, and is great with C! It eases my mind to know that when we come home, Melissa will be here with us to help monitor Caroline and help with any of her needs. She does an assessment each morning to check her vitals, and they follow a great therapy and nap schedule everyday. She has already proved herself to be a great nurse with a big heart, which is exactly what we were looking for!
On a funny note, each night before bath time, I sit C on the potty just to be silly! We tell her to be a big girl! (Billy thinks this is CRAZY!) Well tonight our big girl tee-teed in the potty!!! LOL! I am fully aware that this was a huge coincidence, but it definitely made us laugh!
Thank you all for your continuous prayers through this journey! We have high hopes that this surgery will provide C with BIG benefits! XOXO
Praying for C and praying for you guys too!! So happy you found a nurse that fits your family.
